Additional Information:

Louisiana’s only accredited program in physical therapy (LSU Medical Centers in Shreveport and New Orleans) is a Master’s level program with a baccalaureate (B.S. or B.A.) degree as one of the prerequisites for admission. They usually admit approximately 60 students per year on a highly competitive basis. The degree can be in any major, but must include these requirements.

Admission requirements may change from year to year as modifications occur in the Department. Applicants are strongly urged to contact the Department annually to avoid the risk of not meeting admission requirements in the expected time frame.

The program also requires at least 50 clock hours experience with a licensed physical therapist (the more experience, the better) and your scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). We have six health care facilities (hospitals and state institutions) that accept our students for their practical experience in P.T., plus several private health care/P.T. providers.
