BI 161 General Biology: Cell Lab The purpose of BI 161 is to familiarize students with the basic characteristics of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Special emphasis is placed on non-animal cells (i.e. plants, fungi, protists, and prokaryotes). Fundamental aspects of metabolism such as the nature of macromolecules and the glycolytic pathway are investigated as well.This course is intended for students who plan to major in the natural sciences and/or who intend to complete a pre-health professions program. BI 160 is a prerequisite or co-requisite for BI 161. 2 hrs
