EN 091 English Fundamentals A review of the fundamentals of English grammar and usage. Students who have a score of seventeen (17) or below on the ACT Assessment Exam or an equivalent score on the SAT Assessment Exam in English shall enroll in English 091 and complete the course during the first semester of their Freshman year and prior to taking EN 101 . Students are not permitted to withdraw from the course. If a student fails EN 091, the student must repeat the course the following semester. If an approved placement exam is offered, a satisfactory score may supersede this policy. English Fundamentals may not be transferred to Louisiana College from another college. A student must earn a “C” or above to pass the class and to enroll in EN 101 .
EN 091 may be attempted only two times. After the second failure the student must withdraw from Louisiana College for a minimum of one semester, and then the student can reapply for admission. If a student fails EN 091 during the Summer Bridge Program, the student will be permitted to attempt the course two additional times.
All students enrolled in EN 091 must take each subsequent English course in next semester (EN 101 and then EN 102 ). These courses must be taken at Louisiana College and may not be transferred in from coursework taken at other institutions during subsequent summer/interim sessions.
Student must earn a “C” or above to pass the class and to enroll in English 101. Credit 3 add-on hours
