Welcome to the Division of Media and Communication. The Division of Media and Communication is committed to equipping students with the diverse knowledge and cutting-edge skills necessary to excel in an ever-changing world of media and communication. The Division does so through Christian faculty dedicated to helping students realize their God-given potential and a challenging curriculum designed to prepare students for success as media professionals or communication scholars.

The Division of Media and Communication consists of three academic departments: the Department of Communication Studies, the Department of Convergence Media, and the Department of Theatre. Grounded in a theoretical approach to the study of communication and rhetoric, the Department of Communication Studies offers a 48-hour major resulting in a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, a Communication Studies major with a Public Relations concentration as well as 21-hour minors in either Communication Studies or Speech Education (?).

In keeping with an increasingly digital media environment, the Department of Convergence Media seeks to instill students with a diverse skill set with a 21-hour Core of courses and three 27-hour concentrations: Journalism, Media Production or Sports Media. In addition to the Bachelor of Arts in Convergence Media focused in Journalism, Media Production or Public Relations, the Department also offers five minor options that compliment students seeking majors in other academic disciplines. Specifically, the Department of Convergence Media offers 21-hour minors in Journalism, Mass Media Studies, Media Production, Public Relations and Sports Media.

The Department of Theatre offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Communication and Media. The B.A. in Theatre, Communication and Media provides student majors a truly interdisciplinary approach to the study of perfomance in both interpersonal and mediated forms as a fundamental form of human communication. Required courses across theatre, communication, and media production will serve as a strong liberal arts foundation for a myriad of career fields or admission to graduate programs around the country.
