Description

The Department of History and Political Science emphasizes the understanding of the past and politics through a Christian context and prepares students with the skills they will need to navigate the complex world of the 21st century. Our degree programs help students develop marketable skills such as the abililty to research and gather data, analyze and draw conclusions from that data, and communicate their knowledge clearly and effectively in written and oral forms. The Department offers a broad range of courses in American, European and Church history as well as political sciences classes focusing on American Government, International Politics, Public Policy, and the U.S.Constitution. We encourage students to pursue learning outside of the classroom through participation in field trips, internships and academic conferences. Students who excel in their academic studies are invited to join Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honors society.

Mission

We aim to produce men and women of deep Christian faith and integrity who will be successful in their chosen careers. One way we accomplish this objective is through the individualized attention that our majors receive in small classes and in academic advising. We know all of the students majoring in our division by name and tailor our courses to help them achieve their highest potential.
